FRESNO HVAC FAQ

Every Question Fresno Homeowners Ask Us

Real answers about cost, timing, financing, and what actually happens on a service call — no vague marketing language, just what to expect.

Cost & pricing

What things actually cost

How much does AC repair cost in Fresno?

Our $89 diagnostic visit covers a full system inspection and a written quote — credited in full toward your repair if you move forward. Typical repair costs run $180-$650 depending on the part and complexity, with flat-rate pricing in writing before any work begins. No hourly meter, no surprise add-ons.

How much does a new AC installation or replacement cost?

Standard 14-16 SEER systems start around $6,500 installed. Premium variable-speed systems (19+ SEER) start around $12,400. Exact pricing depends on system size, ductwork condition, and home square footage — always confirmed in writing after a free in-home estimate, never a phone quote.

Is the diagnostic fee actually credited toward my repair?

Yes, in full. If you decide not to move forward with the repair, you still keep the diagnostic findings and video — you’re not charged extra for walking away.

Do you charge more for emergency or after-hours calls?

No emergency surcharge games. Our pricing is flat-rate and quoted in writing regardless of when the call comes in — during peak summer season, we extend to 24/7 dispatch for no-cool emergencies at the same rates.

Repair vs. replace

Deciding what’s actually worth fixing

Should I repair or replace my AC unit?

Generally, repair makes sense if your unit is under 10 years old and the repair cost is less than 30% of replacement. Replacement usually wins if your system is 12+ years old, runs on R-22 refrigerant, or you’re spending more than $1,500 per season on repairs. We show you the real numbers on video, not just a recommendation.

What size AC unit do I actually need?

It depends on square footage, insulation, window orientation, and ceiling height, calculated through a Manual J load calculation — not just matched to your old unit’s tonnage. An oversized system short-cycles and wears out early; an undersized one runs constantly and never quite keeps up.

What’s the difference between installation and replacement?

Replacement swaps out an existing failed or aging system. Installation adds cooling capacity where none exists — a room addition, a home that’s only ever had window units, or new construction. The equipment is similar, but sizing and ductwork planning differ since there’s no existing system to reference.

Speed & scheduling

How fast this actually moves

How fast can you get to my Fresno home?

Most AC repair calls are dispatched same-day, often within 60 minutes during business hours. No-cool and no-heat emergencies get priority dispatch ahead of routine maintenance. During business hours, online requests typically get a response within 20 minutes.

How long does AC installation or replacement take?

Most standard replacements are completed in 6-8 hours for a straightforward swap. Installations or replacements requiring new or modified ductwork typically take 1-2 additional days.

Are you available 24/7?

During peak summer season, yes — we extend to 24/7 emergency dispatch for no-cool situations. Outside of peak season, standard business hours apply, with same-day scheduling in most cases.

Financing

Paying for it

Do you offer financing for HVAC work?

Yes — $0 down, 0% interest for 18 months, or 4.99% APR over 144 months for larger systems. Same-day approval in most cases with no hard credit pull. See our Fresno HVAC financing options → for full details.

Will checking my eligibility affect my credit score?

No. Checking financing eligibility does not require a hard credit pull and won’t affect your credit score. Only a full application triggers a hard inquiry.

Trust & credentials

Who’s actually showing up at your door

Are you licensed and insured in California?

Yes. Grandmark is fully licensed (CSLB #1030917), insured, and bonded, and BOSCH authorized for HVAC work. Every technician is a W-2 employee — not a subcontractor — with a passed background check.

What is the X-Ray AC diagnostic?

Our diagnostic process uses micro-camera diagnostics to inspect your system’s internal condition directly, plus digital gauge calibration to verify refrigerant charge against exact manufacturer specs — finding hidden cracks and clogs a listen-and-guess diagnosis would miss. See our full X-Ray diagnostic explanation →.

What’s your guarantee on HVAC work?

Every repair is backed by our written warranty — if the fix doesn’t hold, we return and resolve it at no additional cost. Every job ends with a completion video for your records. Fix it right, or you don’t pay.

What brands do you service?

All major brands, including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, York, Bryant, and American Standard.
